Although middle order performs equally good when the top three lay a strong foundation. But it is a problem when it comes to situations where the top order is dismissed very quickly and the middle order needs to make a competitive total.

The records also recite the same story except for the last ODI against New Zeland when Vijay Shankar and Ambati Rayudu bailed out the team from such a situation. The problem is worsened with not enough reliable batting options No. 7 onwards.

The management needs to look after this problem and come up with the best performing middle order soon that can bail out the team from the worst of situations in such matches. MS Dhoni, indeed needs to play the lead role in the middle order.

The likes of Kedar Jadhav, Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Kartik, Rishabh Pant, whoever will be in the playing XI need to perform according to the situation demand.
